What do I need to use Cook?
An iPhone on iOS 17 or later, and Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses with the Neural Band for the heads-up view. The iPhone app also works on its own, with the step view, timers, and voice commands.
What can I give it?
Pasted recipe text, a recipe web address, a screenshot, or up to three photos from the camera or your library. If what you give it is not a recipe, Cook tells you on the phone and leaves the glasses alone.
How do I control it from my wrist?
Flick left or right for the previous or next step. Pinch to start or pause the timer. Hold the pinch for about a second, or double pinch, to open Set time; there, flick to change the length and pinch to use it. The bottom of the display always shows which gesture does what.
The display looks stale.
Tap Send to glasses on the phone again. If it still looks old, use the glasses' own menu to restart the Cook web app.
Can I change the number of servings?
Yes. When the recipe gives a serving count you get a servings stepper; otherwise Half, 1x, 2x and 3x. The range is 0.25x to 8x, and quantities, calories and the glasses all follow.
Which voice commands work?
Next, back, read that again, start the timer, stop the timer, add a minute, how much longer, what do I need, start over, and I'm done. A green VOICE pill on the glasses shows when the phone is listening.
Can I run more than one timer?
Yes. Each step with a wait gets a one-tap named timer, and you can add up to four more for other pots. The extra ones run on the phone and in notifications, because the glasses have room for one clock.
Do I need an account?
No. An account is optional and only brings your recipes, favorites and settings to a new phone. You can delete it from the app at any time.
Where do my recipes live?
On your phone. Favorites are kept forever; other recipes keep the newest 80. If you sign in, the library is also synced to your account. See the privacy policy.
